Winter School EQ Intensive 2018
The best of The School of Life condensed into a single, unforgettable week. Step outside your daily existence and think productively about your strengths and weaknesses, values and priorities, goals and dreams.
The School of Life’s Winter School is a structured, 5-day journey offering you the very best of our unique program of classes, workshops and events as well as supplementary School of Life products to support you outside the classroom.
You’ll embark on a rich and enlightening voyage with other curious and open-minded people, discovering how to make lasting, meaningful change across every aspect of your life. By working within a fixed group led by skilled facilitators over the week, you'll dive deeper than would be possible in any single class.
You will be encouraged to share your thoughts and discuss insights with fellow travellers throughout the week.
Places are limited to 23 participants.
Please email us with any dietary requirements at least 14 days prior to the start of the Intensive.
Day One: Equips us with the core skills of Emotional Intelligence. We will learn why our minds have a hard time understanding themselves, how to map and understand our anxieties and why we respond to frustration in certain ways.
Day Two: Takes us on a structured journey around resilience in the face of stress. Agitation is always in essence a mental phenomenon, a result of ideas; a calm mind-set therefore relies on having to hand a raft of calming ideas that can be called upon in moments of panic. Day two will end with a Conversation Dinner.
Day Three: Teaches us how to choose our partners wisely and make our relationships last. One of the gravest errors we make around relationships is to imagine that they aren’t things we can get better at. On this day we will learn to practice and refine our skills at love.
Day Four: Explores how we can achieve our career potential. We will employ psychological tools to be better able to understand our talents and to move forward professionally and with purpose using the opportunities that are open to us.
Day Five: Explores our cultural and Indigenous heritage in Australia as well as our inherent biases around ethics and morality. We will engage with primary sources as a tool to examine and question the relationship we have with our society. The final day will end with casual drinks as a group and reflection.
'The unexamined life is not worth living'
'I left the week feeling far more open to possibility than I had expected, at the same time understanding that how that possibility was taken on is entirely up to me. Powerful.'
– Jane, EQ Intensive Participant
'When else do you get a chance to really think about what is important in life with fantastic inspiring teachers who really know and understand what they are talking about? I would highly recommend The School of Life one week intensive course to anyone. You not only meet great minded people, you also get time and space to really think about many different areas of your life from your career to great conversations. As Nike would say, 'just do it'. You will not regret it.'
