Junior Designer (3 Month Contract)

The School of Life is based in Bloomsbury, London, less than 10 minutes’ walk from King’s Cross and Euston stations. As well as a thriving international e-commerce store, we have over 3.5 million YouTube subscribers, a world-leading blog The Book of Life, a new app, and we run classes and events around the world. 

We’re a fast-moving, innovative organisation with world-changing ambitions. We don’t believe in bureaucracy but are commercially minded and an established business, with a dynamic and passionate team of 30+ in the UK Head Office and partner branches around the world.

Job Specification:

Accountable for creating and artworking assets across all of the business’ channels, with a focus on retail marketing and programme events.

Reports to: Mid-Weight Designer & Head of Marketing

Type of person we are looking for:
  • Strong communication skills, able to articulate ideas both verbally and visually
  • Proactive, organised and a strong attention to detail
  • A fast learner who is able to work on a variety of projects at once
  • Apple/Mac savvy, able to adapt to new requests quickly and efficiently
  • Confidently contribute to the development of the brand visual output in meetings and brainstorms 
Must have:
  • BA (Hons) in Graphic Design or related subject
  • A strong knowledge of CS Suite; Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Knowledge of preparing files for both print and web
  • Strong typographic, layout and design skills displayed through an impressive portfolio
  • Some experience in a similar professional role or internship would be a benefit but isn't essential

Marketing Assistant

We are looking for a smart, creative Marketing Assistant to join our team. This is initially a fixed term role until end of December 2018, with the possibility to extend the role to the right person.

Job Specification

Accountable for: Assisting the eCommerce Marketing Manager in growing our eCommerce sales.

Reports into: eCommerce Marketing Manager

Key responsibilities:
  • Website content management – eCommerce merchandising, marketing communication and website functionality. Ensuring that this is all within our brand guidelines
  • Managing social media accounts and engaging with our audience to increase audience size and engagement 
  • Supporting the eCommerce Marketing Manager with launch campaigns for products
  • Managing our relationship with the press – creating press releases and responding to enquiries
  • Working with our in-house design team on marketing assets

Type of person we are looking for:

  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Creative eye for curating beautiful content and imagery (any graphic design or photoshop experience desirable)
  • Proactive, organised with strong attention to detail. 
  • A fast learner who enjoys doing a variety of different tasks
  • You are inquisitive and always up-to-date about latest social media features and marketing trends
  • Tech savvy – up for learning and using new systems

Product & Supply Chain Coordinator

We believe in making the world a more emotionally intelligence place. Our books, products and overall international retail business are central to our aims. Our range has grown significantly over the last 5 years and we are now hoping to expand further.

We are looking for an experienced product designer who is confident, assertive and a team player to work with the Head of Retail Product to create original and though provoking products. You will be responsible for seeing artwork through to production working with our existing supplier base while also resourcing to ensure quality is high while within budget. 

You will ideally have experience of managing the full supply chain. As well as new development you will oversee all reorders and communication with our suppliers regarding shipping to ensure we remain in stock year-round.

The right candidate will have several years of hands-on experience in a similar role, with a strong background in a product based retail industry. We are looking for someone to become part of our team, who can offer ideas and solutions as well as manage the day to day activity required from this role.

Demand Planner/Merchandiser

We are looking for an experienced Merchandiser who is confident, assertive and a team player to work with the Heads of Retail Product and Sales. You will be responsible for ensuring we have stock available year-round, this will involve forecasting for our many sales channels including domestic and international markets, direct and trade customers. The role will involve improving efficiency throughout all processes including stock management, dispatch and a full ownership of the relationship with our third party warehouse.

You must have previous experience of demand planning and working in a small but fast moving team. This role would suit someone from a start-up company background who is enthusiastic about making the role their own.

The right candidate will have several years of hands-on experience in a similar role, with a strong background in a product based retail industry. We are looking for someone to become part of our team, who can offer ideas and solutions as well as manage the day to day activity required from this role.

Retail Ecommerce / Marketing Manager

We are looking for a smart, creative Retail Ecommerce / Marketing Manager to join our fast-growing team at this exciting time. This is a unique opportunity offering a mix of creativity and analysis. We want someone who can both come up with ideas and analyse performance; who can take a retail product and produce a winning creative launch campaign, set up the product online and track and optimise the sales performance, as well as finding new and creative ways to market the base.

The right candidate will have several years of hands-on experience in a similar role, with a strong background in ecommerce and digital marketing for an online retailer, ideally with a strong visual brand identity. We are looking for someone used to working towards weekly sales targets, who will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck into the delivery of executions as well as bringing new ideas and leading on key strategic areas.

Job Specification

Accountable for: Growing retail sales across online and other channels in the UK, US and Europe.

Reports into: Head of Marketing and Digital

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee successful set-up and marketing launch of new retail products – campaign theme, creative brief, marketing touchpoints.
  • Manage and maintain the retail website: products, homepages, development suggestions (non-technical).
  • Weekly and monthly reporting on KPIs and performance of executions.
  • Produce e-newsletters and social media to push retail.
  • Suggest and lead on further activities to drive retail sales.
  • Lead on press releases, printed materials, promotions and links to retail from other assets owned by The School of Life, e.g. our blog, classes, SEO, other websites.
  • Work closely with broader Retail team to help market to wholesale customers, on Amazon, and to market our physical store in London.
  • Stay on top of competitor executions and developments and industry best practice and apply these to The School of Life.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader Marketing team and wider business to ensure coherent customer journey across all touchpoints.

Shop Manager (Tuesday - Saturday)

We are looking for a candidate who is looking to embrace all elements of the business and be the gateway to our global business. This role is customer facing and you will often be the first point of contact with our customers. You must be professional and approachable and keen to interact, as well as well-organised and trustworthy. There are many different areas of the business which you will need to understand and articulate to the customer. 

Reports to: Head of Retail Sales

Overall responsibility: Running our Marchmont Street shop in central London

Start date: Beginning of August
